GLOBALMIND QUEENSDAY 2010

We spend our QUEENSDAY 2010 in Amsterdam amidst a blazing Globalized crowd (Leidseplein area) of nearly all ages but predominantly around their teens . Basically we had to settle some complex globalized bank matters but the banks (unlike many shops) where not that globalized. Our bank was closed.

The important observation we could note was the phenomenon that thousands and thousands of humans packed like sardines in a small tin could peacefully move in any direction they wanted without any problem or aggressive act (at least that was our experience) .

A few days earlier the author spend a few hours (near the University library, end of Leidsestraat) covered by doves he was feeding . These famously peaceful animals where constantly fighting among each other for every peace of bread they could (gently) snatch from his hands.

Summary.

Our day was mainly spend in Wassenaar, the village of most of my roots, the beaches and underground Atlantic Wall maze, the surrounding fairytale land with Schiphol Airport on the way home to Amsterdam ending the night amid giggling madness finding our way through slippery roads at and near Leidseplein .

Our general impression is that in Amsterdam these topics have some roots in the roaring sixties when many things got out of hand . We are not sure the gay image serves anybody at all . The word gay itself has a somewhat pathetic taste . Perhaps it was given to certain people to make them look silly. Is that what we want . Well they sure look silly on the gay parade ... What about adding a few 007's? ... if we must have a gay parade...
