A statement about immortality in the 21th century may not be the same as such a statement in the 20th century considering progress at a geometric rate in dynamic interaction of the micro- and macro- systems of which our planetary meta-system and comparable systems in our known universe are and may be composed .

If our species would survive another hundred years -and why not?- what would be our knowledge then? Considering our rate of progress? And a hundred years after that? And . . . a . . . thousand years later . . . ? Could we . . . in all fairness maintain that eternal life would be . . . impossible . . . Or would it now be fair to ask for a burden of proof that it would not be possible . . .

One aspect we can evaluate at the moment is the incredible influence of global Internet in this respect . A wise and benign use of this system will allow humans an exchange of knowledge which can be extremely motivating e.g for scientist and especially for their minds and brains . The time will come (or perhaps already has come ...) that all they want is a cubicle in which there stable state can be maintained and an Internet linked computer to increase and exchange their knowledge . . .

The inputs we have received on the text summarized above suggest that a misunderstanding could arise.

Let there be no misunderstanding please . . . I am talking about your PERSONAL IMMORTALITY not the immortality of our species . . .

And the essence of our text is that we say the burden of proof : that PERSONAL IMMORTALITY may never be possible may have to be reconsidered.

I am talking about the immortality of our active mind ultimately -and stepwise- being transferred to a mechanical structure that will execute the precise commands of our active mind in the same way our active mind executes the commands of our person when we where still fully recognizable as a "flesh and blood human".

With "STEPWISE" I mean in the way which is already common practice today.

Today, in the year 2007 , it is almost common practice to replace parts of our bodies by artificial systems when necessary.

A comparable operation was inconceivable a century ago , let alone two or (many) centuries ago.

Extrapolating this reality to a (maybe not so distant) future logically leads to the model I am proposing.

It also means we should , with full conviction , start working towards it.

Maybe some groups already are . . . (ref. copyright or emergence).

Now it goes on . . .

Considering the turmoil in the U.S.A. Senate (Gonzales / Rove etc .) with a possible result : President Bush going to the (Supreme) Court, will almost inevitably have complex Global consequences also affecting Europe and the proceedings of the European Constitution .

One problem , involving some 75% of the European Population (related to the Soylent Green & "Alzheimer / Altheimer Hype" ) has our special attention :

There seems to be a tendency to neglect the fact that people simply will get older which is why we have connected our present analyses of the U.S.A. Senate turmoil to our texts on PERSONAL IMMORTALITY .
